Did a 1970 early Oct build Chevelle 396 with a M22 have a large 32 spline (turbo 400) or could it of had a 27 spline (turbo 350) output shaft? Did only the 1970 Chevelle with the LS 5 and LS 6 come with the large output Muncie M22?

Welcome. The M22 was standard equipment on 4 speed LS5 & LS6 cars (454's). To the best of my knowledge 396 cars only got M20 and M21 transmissions.

Not sure about the input shafts, But all I've seen take the 32 spline output shaft.

I believe the 70 396 cars, if ordered with the M22, got the 10 spline input and 27 spline output. Only the 70 Chevelle 454 cars got the fine spline input and 32 spline output.

In 71 all the Muncie 4 speeds were fine input and large output.
