I have been using one for the last couple of years. It worked great. I just took it out and am converting to a 4 speed :hurray:

Had one until i swapped in the 4spd. I like it better then the mega shifter, no extra parts to move. Once its in D just ratchet it back for 2nd, 1st, was sweet. I took the indicator out of my stock console and ran it through the hole with a boot. Here was a mockup picture:

Everyone thought I had a 4spd, was cool.

So far so good. Pedals in, bell housing dialed in. I am just waithing for the tranny and flywheel. I have every thing else sitting here. Long weekend here this weekend. No Beau to drive and the weather is supposed to be beautiful. Oh but a small price to pay to be able to have a 4 speed again. It has only been 38 years. I keep shifting in my sleep. I have missed 3rd a couple of times :D

I ran one back in the 80's on my 71 Malibu. I liked the ratchet action with the reverse lockout (perfect for a little back road racing in my much younger days!).

I like them. We had one in our S/G car and now one in a street car.

I've been using one in my 71 for probably 10 years or so. I like the ratchet action much more than the mega shifter I had before. It is a lot easier to move the shifter between gears. You can ratchet up and down with it, so if you are in second you can go directly back to first or up the back down etc. If I remember right the mega shifter worked the same way just not as smooth.
I got the one with a shorter stick, I think it was 2in shorter,I dont think they offer it in the shorter version anymore.
I know Hurst makes one that is very similiar but when you pull the handle up and shift to drive it actually stops at neutral and you have to ratchet to drive. then to go back to park or reverse you have to ratchet back to neutral and then pull up to get out of the ratchet gate to shift back up. If that make any sense. Kind of a pain after using the Quick Silver.
Also I beleive you can modify the Quick Silver by removing a rivet to make it a full ratchet from park to low. The mod used to be in their instructions.
