I have a 69 Chevelle, tilt wheel, tilt hub for sport wheel, 3 spoke repop sport wheel. I have checked the forums, the assembly manual and the service manual and I do not know why the horn cap snaps into place, but it doesn't go down uniformly when you honk the horn. The cap tilts to whatever side you press on, and can come off easily. When I press it in the middle, it appears to work OK, but is very sensitive (light tap will sound it). Horn contact is cut to 3/4 inch according to GM contact kit instructions. What did I do wrong? I would imagine that they are a lot more robust than that. Am I wrong? Any help is appreciated.

Paul, haven't experienced this myself...but curious whether you got the wheel & cap from the same place? May be a bad fit...

Hi John,
I got the steering wheel OEM wheel--licensed by GM) and an SS cap from Ground Up. I picked up the Bowtie cap from NPD. I have never had any issues from Ground Up or NPD, as both have been great to work with. I ordered a GM horn contact, and am going to compare it to the one that's on there now (repop). I am hoping that will solve the problem.

Well, what do you know...it turned out that the repop horn contact didn't have enough "bite" to hold the horn cap in place. I bought a genuine GM horn contact, and guess what--it snapped right in place and works like a charm. Thank you John!
