Hi Guys,I have finaly decided not to modify the original 402 in my 70 chevelle, and build either a 454 or a 496. The car is a 4 speed with 4.10's. I will be running a 27" tire (275/60),weight should be about 3900-4000 with me. My goals are to run 11.60-12.00 on drag radials and not explode my muncie or rear end, meaning no hard launches or shifting without slightly letting off the gas. With the gears i have, do you feel the 496 would just roast the tires, or is the extra torque still better? I dont want to change the gears.I think I am leaning towards a 454 based motor, but would like some good input. Thanks
