This seems to be the right cam for a mild/average 383 with enough for future upgrades, my question is what do me and my dad need to know about solid cams, after only dealing with hydraulic cams?

Is there special machining required, valvetrain components needed, etc.

And does the $160.00 price tag off summit include lifters? If not how much are they?

Is there a comparible hydraulic cam that doesn't need a vacuum canister?

Yeah but my question is what does a solid cam require different than a hydraulic in terms of installation?

No machine work is required right?

Any special valvetrain components needed?

Chadwick,
No real machine work needed but you will probably need different valve springs which "might" require machining on the heads. I did not look at the specs on the cam, and I dont know what heads etc that you have now. I would call Lunati with the information about your engine and ask them what will be needed. They make the cam, they should know !

Yeah, i was just wondering if it was a drop iin like a hydraulic cam, which it is, so we are all set.

I have new springs on there from my Performer RPM cam, so ill double check to see that they are the same, if not i dont mind changing them again if i must.
