You will be fine
HPseeker Nov 10th, 04, 8:54 PM Thanks Tom, I just wanted to be sure the little carter 120gph is going to get the line with the correct psi or any other thing that can be afected ,that is what my friend said went I ask him to do the jop ,he said that this may cause some problems the pickup been to big .thanks
mechcanic427 Nov 10th, 04, 9:27 PM i run a holley blue pump mounted in the back pushing through a factory 3/8 line but the blue pump puts out 14 psi and i regulate it at the carb so i have had no problems with fuel. if you use a 1/2 pickup and a 3/8s line it should hold you for now but i would get a fuel pressure gauge that you can read while racing and see what drop you have after half track. if it gets below 3 psi for very long then you will have to change something.
427L88 Nov 11th, 04, 8:36 AM Javier, you have to change that " No HEADERS" thing if you want to shoot for 11's! smile.gif
Good luck with the fuel fix.
HPseeker Nov 11th, 04, 8:57 AM Gene the headers are installed I got to leave the no header e/t up to my next pass ,Gene you are making me think of those 11' .I really dont think in that drop in e/t , ,that will be SWEET MAN
427L88 Nov 11th, 04, 9:14 AM Javier, I'm not a racer, Tom and mechanic427 are, I know Tom is very good. But I can say it is all about small progess here and there, keep testing this, doing this, and all of a sudden you have shaved 1/2 second or even a full second off the ET.
And hopefully had fun and made new friends along the way...!
Xtreme70SS396 Nov 11th, 04, 1:33 PM rcatala,
For those of us just reading because we're interested in this topic but don't have good information for you, please post your results from this fuel line swap. UDHarold has said the fuel line size is an issue on his cams, and it would be great feedback for everyone interested to hear your results.
Good Luck!
rb69 Nov 12th, 04, 6:49 AM rcatala,
I use the carter super pump (mech.) and 1/2" line on a 496 and have made a few passes w/ the best 1/8 mile time of 7.3 @ 92 mph w/ no fuel pressure problems.
Car is still lean due to jetting and two step not working- hope to get into the 6's.
