I need a DOUBLE HUMP cross member for my
1978 El Camino to clear the left pipe of the duals that I want to install. Does anyone know of an after-market source or a GM part that will do the job. HELP!

You could use the exhaust for 84-88 Monte Carlo SuperSports and you won't need a double hump crossmember. It splits behind the cat converter.

The monte ss exhaust is a good idea but you will probably have to legnthen it. The El Camino wheel base is 117.1 and i think the monte is 107?.

If you are looking for a true dual exhaust crossmember, Gforce Performance makes a modified stock x-member. Their web page is located at sites.netscape.net/gforcejohn3/g2.htm (http://sites.netscape.net/gforcejohn3/g2.htm) .
If you have any fabrication skills, you can make this modification yourself and save a few $$$. I made my own several years ago before anything was available. I also added a removable lower section that unbolts but adds quite a bit if strength.
On my 79 Malibu, I have had both 3" and 3 1/2" pipes which cleared with no problems.
Good luck

Oops, forgot. Gforce Performance's site has a few pics of the crossmember once it has been modified.
Good Luck
