Looking for feedback from anyone who has used the Isky mega 274 cam. Im looking to put one in my 383.

274 cams fit 383s the best..IMO. I know a person who used the mega 274 in a 355 and it was a great performer.

Is it very lopey. All I want is that good ole muscle car lopey sound. Nothing too extreme.

Also wondering how good it will do with me having power brakes and power steering.

its a very streetable cam for a 383...i'd say, the next step up in cam size is where you will lose vacuum and have the rough idle. as for the mega 274 in a 383, it will probably idle normal with all power accessories working fine.

Not real sure what "normal idle" means but you will definitely know it has a cam with the 274.
Power accessories should work just fine but idle will be quite noticeable with this cam ;)
You should have about 8-12 inches depending on idle speed & ignition timing..

thanks for the info. Mike I'll be getting a hold of you next month for some heads and a cam. I had to put off engine build this past year.

I ran the 280 Mega HYD in a 350 and it had just enough vacuum for power breaks and steering.It did produce a low pedal though.
This is with 9.75:1, RPM manifold, Hollet 650DP, Pocket ported S/R Torker's with 202/160's.

This cam works very well.

My friends and gas station attendants always said they thought it had a bad ass idle :rolleyes:

It didn't sound that bad too me but you could definitely hear it ;)

ran a 280 mega once in a 68 camaro 1.5.1 compression fuelie 194 heads 750 vacum sec holley duel plane and i could roll along in first at 30 with 323 gears stand on the throttle and it would fry the tires the idle was very noticiable bumpty bumpty that that that ..

mowtown, do you mean 10.5 or 11.5 compression? or?
