Alright guys, I've got most of the parts for my motor, and for the next couple weeks I wont be around too much, as I will be putting it together, putting it on the dyno, and putting it in the car. I wanted to give you guys one last chance to take a guess as to what this motor will make on the dyno. Here are the specs.

383CI stroker small block

-Early 70's High nickle content 350 block (Bored .030 over, tanked, fluxed,& align honed)
-Forged 4130 Eagle crank (3.750 stroke)
-Forged SIR I beam Eagle rods (5.700 legnth)
-Milodon High volume oil pump
-Canton oil pan
-SRP flat top forged pistons
-Lunati Solid Flat Tappet Cam 288/296 at .020, 255/263 at .050, .540"/.556" valve lift, and a 108 LSA
-Dart Pro 1 Aluminum heads 215CC runners, Mild hand porting and polishing 64 CC domes, Ferrera Stainless valves.
-Crower 1.6 Stainless rockers
-Edelbrock EPS Dual plane aluminum intake (will be switching to an air gap with a new hood)
-Holley 750 Double pumper
-MSD Pro billet vacuum advance distributor
-MSD 6AL Box and Blaster coil
-Hooker comp long tube headers
-Cloyes timing set

11:1 compression (93 octane pump gas)

All I'm waiting on is the cam. Speaking of cams, has anyone heard from Harold? I need to speak to him about ordering the cam, and I can't seem to reach him. Really looking to order this cam though so I can put this thing together! I've been waiting a long time!

Thanks,
Joe Phillips

500@6300. This engine is fairly similar to Sheetmetals 383 and he made 525 hp. He had a smaller cam and (maybe) a little better head not sure what your flows.

Maybe 450 at 5500 with the EPS

490 @ 6k with an RPM

I'll take 472hp @ 6200.

add about 30 or more hp with the RPM and good air. Good luck!

475hp @6,300rpm and probably 450 lb/ft of torque around 5,200 with the RPM is my guess. Its going to want to go higher with the cam and heads but the intake is a restriction.
My big question is.....why are you going with a 215cc head, lots of compression, a big cam, and a DUAL PLANE???? You have plenty of compression, lots of cam and lots of head. See if you can borrow and try a single plain, victor jr or super victor, motown, a brodix, GM performance... SOMTHING to try out on the dyno. I bet it would help and be much more suited to your combo on and off the track. Your already going to need plenty of gear with your combo so a single plain isnt going to make your combo weak down low. Just a thought

I've got a 4.11 gear, 26 inch tires, I do have a victor jr. that I can get hold of. Maybe I'll try it.

What's the winner get? ;) If just an 'atta boy, my guess is 449 hp at 5900 rpm, and 473 lb. ft. at 4400. Assuming it is an engine dyno, it is accurate, and the engine is well tuned. I think you may pick up 10 hp with the RPM, with no change in torque. The single plane will not help with that smallish cam. Go with the RPM.

255/263@.050 isnt a smallish cam and is probably going to want to go past 6,500 well set up, especially with the rest of the motor the way it is. Try both of them and give us some numbers

Joe,

If you can get it on West-Tech's dyno in California, it should make about 575 BHP or so, or maybe 500-510 on most other dynos. Torque on a normal dyno should be around 470-475 at 5200.
It will be a hard-runner, but needs a Victor Jr.
