Andy; Sounds like a major intake leak!Is it smoking out the tails,or using oil?Is it doing this with the pcv disconnected? Were the heads ported? Steve

Andy,
Do you connect a vacuum-tester?....And what does it says?
I had also a vacuum leak, and order a vacuum-tester......I think its a good way to fix this problem!

*This is a very good site .........i learn of it!! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

www.users.bigpond.com/ergoff/vac1.htm (http://www.users.bigpond.com/ergoff/vac1.htm)

you can connect this vacuum-tester on the intake or carburator!!(look'n for continue vacuum! on stock engines you look for 18-21 hg!)

Succes Andy! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I'm not sure if this is the right type of leak for this but try spraying starting fluid on the base of the intake runners where they meet the heads and if the rpms go up that means the gasket is junk.

Eddy and Young; He is experiencing a suction through the breather holes in the valve covers, signifying an internal leak.Spraying carb cleaner on the outside would not find the problem.A vacuum gauge would only be helpful if he had a starting point(normal vacuum)for his setup. Steve
