Can anyone recommend a resource for info on header coatings? The Jett-Hot Ceramic didn' last a year. The car is stored and driven less than 2000 miles a year.

If there is a guarantee, I'd be calling them on it. If you're leery about using them ( Jet-Hot )again, try Airborn Coatings at www.airborncoatings.com (http://www.airborncoatings.com)

I looked into this coating a few years back, and Airborn Coatings was just started by a former partner at Jet Hot Coatings (I may have it backwards, but I'm not sure). I have a feeling that they are very similar products. I heard that it is best to have a NEW set of headers coated, as getting a used set coated doesn't last as long. I'd take them up on their warrantee, because this isn't a cheap process. Only other option would be to buy them already coated. I know people that have bought them this way, and never have any problems.

Timely post... I'm getting my headers and merge collectors recoated while the engine is out for a rebuild. I have 2" Hooker Super Comps. They've been coated twice by Jet Hot in the last 4 years. At this point they look bad. The finish is ultra dull and they're rusting in a few places. The second time I had Jet Hot coat them was under warranty because the first job only lasted about 2.5 year. I think I paid Jet Hot ~$350 IIRC. This time around I'm using a shop that's local to me called Performance Coatings. They're only going to charge me $255 for the headers and both merge collectors. With Jet Hot is $350 just for the headers. This company offers a 3 year warranty. Here's their web site:

I had a friend pick up a set of headers from performance coatings this week and they look really good considering how rusty and pitted they were when he dropped them off. I think it was around 240.00 for the headers(chrome look) and he also had a set of old MT valve covers coated that looked really good for about 60.00. I am definitely letting them do my headers when it is time.

I had a set of headers done by Performance Coatings about 5 or 6 years ago, and I have been very pleased. They still look great except where the header tubes dump into the collectors. The coating is beginning to flake off and the headers are rusting at that point, but heck they are about 6 years old now.
