: B & M Shifter Which one do you use?
AlsChevelle May 6th, 08, 10:52 PM For My Chevelle 70 SS I am having problems choosing which shifter. Mainly used for the street going from show to show street cruising and some strip usage. What do you use? and what kind of recommendations do you have. I would like to put it in by the hotrod power tour. I am going on it for 4 days. Also sick of the column shifter.
Thanks for your opinions ahead of time.:beers:

Dave May 6th, 08, 11:55 PM I love My Pro-Stick.
Dave427 May 7th, 08, 12:12 AM I use a B&M Pro stick also, love it! The only thing you have to remember is, to hold the lever when going into third. If you don't its easy to go from 2nd to neutral.

70 SS LS-5 May 7th, 08, 12:41 AM I use the Hammer. It works great with my 4l85e and I think it looks really good. Not such a racy look.
Skeeveman May 7th, 08, 12:41 AM Dave, what's up with your pro-stick, mine doesn't do that? The 1-2 is just a shove forward of the shifter, and the 2-3 won't happen unless I squeeze the shifter and throw it forward into third. It will only push into neutral after I let go of the lever.
Oh, Al, I like my pro-stick just like the two daves above!

Skier_Bob May 7th, 08, 1:14 AM I like my Megashifter. Looks and operation
I have the pro stick in Old Blue. I have had the quick silver in the past and liked it too. The pro street has a pistol grip Hurst quarter stick and it is on par with the pro stick.
Jim Mac May 7th, 08, 9:43 AM I tried the mega shifter, but didnt like the pull up feature. I figure with my luck it would break at the worst possible time. I went to a quicksilver in the 71 camaro and elcamino. jim
BIG EVIL CHEVELLE May 7th, 08, 10:56 AM Just put a street bandit in mine this year and I really like it. Simple design, good for a wide variety of transmissions, but it is a little pricey as far as shifters go
rak1 May 7th, 08, 11:29 AM I went with a Lokar shifter and console kit for my 700r4; the only complaint, I have if you could call it one, is they cost me $400 together but it’s a complete kit and even has the cable for the speedo. In a way it was free I bought 14k worth of parts from summitracing and got back $405 in speed points, but still it was a little pricey...
red Chevelle SS May 7th, 08, 3:56 PM I have the mega shifter and hate it. I think I am headed back to the center console with the factory horseshoe shifter

I HATE it when that happen's.:D

Thats what I meant, the 1-2 no problem just shove it, but don't let go of the lever while shifting from 2-3.

I put a Hammer shifter in my 67 (Turbo 400 W/ Gear Venders)
I never liked ratchet style shifters but this one is not bad, maybe I`m just getting used to it
1969 Dreamer May 8th, 08, 4:47 PM i have the quicksilver shifter n i love it. theres nothing extra you have to pull up on or hold in to get it into reverse n park. you just lift up on the shifter handle when its in drive n push it into reverse or park. plus i just put a 700r4 in my camino n itll still work with it!
neal64ss May 8th, 08, 5:04 PM I use the megashifter becuase I got a good buy on one. Not real crazy about the ratcheting action, but it sure does work good.
zeke67 May 8th, 08, 9:41 PM Megashifter here. I like the looks and the ratchet action has been flawless for me. I'd buy a another.
I have a Mega Shifter in the 66. Appearanty it is old, was not really well installed, and it is stiff, and hard to operate. I basicly hate it, although it may not be really at fault.
I just bought a Pro Stick, when Summit talked me out of a Quarter Stick. Have not installed it yet, but it looks and feels much better
Racing May 8th, 08, 10:06 PM i have the quicksilver shifter n i love it. theres nothing extra you have to pull up on or hold in to get it into reverse n park. you just lift up on the shifter handle when its in drive n push it into reverse or park. plus i just put a 700r4 in my camino n itll still work with it!
Quicksilver here. One in a S/G car and another in a street car.
rak1 May 9th, 08, 10:44 AM I HATE it when that happen's.:D
And I have to spend another $3400 to finish the engine and get it running; and I thought Chevy's were cheaper then Dodge Superbee's.... Silly me.:noway:
2k3Chevelle468 May 9th, 08, 12:20 PM Street Bandit - It's painted black to match my interior.

TAC44 Jan 18th, 11, 10:53 PM B&M pro ratchet on a th400
2k3Chevelle468 Jan 19th, 11, 12:27 PM Street bandit painted black to match the interior for a stealth look. I also have a new Pro Stick on the shelf. May give it a try one day.
bowtieboy67 Jan 19th, 11, 7:09 PM Have me a mega shifter in the 67. It was kind of clunky at first, but once I got used to it I quite enjoy it. About the only thing I have to complain about is that you cant shift from neutral to reverse.
