............Sorta.
I do have to work tomorrow, but the beast lives, and not a moment too soon.
About a week ago, I finally picked up my engine. Had it installed and ready to fire last Friday. After a couple last minute items, I climbed in, flipped some switches, and hit the starter. It didn't even crank, just fired up and idled. Sounds awesome, and very throttle responsive.
Saturday, I put it back up on jack stands and spent the day crawling under, over, in, and around the car tightening, tweaking, aligning, and cleaning the beast.
Today, I got the trailer ready, and hopefully, did everything that needs to be done.
Tomorrow, I have to go to work. I was hoping it would be a day of rest, but some good things are happening at the shop, and I will be busting my cute boyish butt all day.
And Tuesday, I Play. Bandimere has a "Racecar" T-n-T scheduled for Tuesday evening, and I WILL be there.
This has been a long time coming. It started out as just a "freshen" on the old 488 engine we ran and broke last year. Well, for a number of reasons, it evolved into a 598 cubic inch monster with a lot of very good (and expensive) stuff.
Tuesday is the last test day I could attend before Super Chevy Show, and that has been my bottom line, last ditch, do or die goal since I realized most of the season was lost.
I am exhausted and need to go to ground and heal some wounds, but that won't happen until after Wednesday when we evaluate what happens Tuesday.
I do hope things go well and the car will do 12.49 or better. We shall see.
