: Comfortable Racing Seats
mc71454 Mar 22nd, 04, 11:19 AM There are so many padded racing seats/Pro-Street seats out there for sale now. Is anyone using a pair that are around the $400 a pair price that have held up and would recommend.
I was thinking about something Like this

Dragn70 Mar 22nd, 04, 11:33 AM Are you wanting one with springs like stock seats for street driving?
Richss396 Mar 22nd, 04, 11:36 AM I've been running some Kirkey Pro-Drags with black velour seat cover with simpson cam-locks....
Look great, comfortable (if sized right), and very safe....
Motor Martyr Mar 22nd, 04, 6:06 PM Tom,
You started driving an Import?
....APC
I dont see how a fold down seat can have alot of structural integrity. All of the serious racing seats are a single piece.

Yeah I guess that was a bad picture just copied and pasted the first I found, I meant something that looks similar That style but definetly a one piece seat. something more comfortable. I have to slow my car down to run in my class anyway, so a few more seat pounds so what the heck for the compfort.
Motor Martyr Mar 22nd, 04, 7:13 PM Why dont you just prep it like a stock eliminator racer...they're required to use stock seats, but they dont weigh like stock ;)
mc71454 Mar 22nd, 04, 7:20 PM This is what I have Summit hard plastic...

Dragn70 Mar 22nd, 04, 7:36 PM If you want comfort on the street those seat have to go. Thats whats in my Chevelle, fine for the track but tuff on the street.
67lemanster Mar 22nd, 04, 7:50 PM These were just under 400 free shipping and included sliders. they are DAD's you can find them on ebay. they have 2 or 3 different styles to choose from. nice seats...but they are not recaros like my lemans but still nice for what i paid. however they are a two piece seat. they will fold up and recline to your comfort level. hope that helps.
ok seat pic did not load you will have to go to my www site then go to the camaro and you will see. tommy

http://www.boomspeed.com/mc71454/interior.jpg I was considering these, is it possible to put any cushion underneath the cover? I don't drive my Chevelle much (street driving, no drag racing), so what do you think? Yes, for occassional driving? Plus, I think it gives it that "drag race" look, even though I don't drag race. Sorry to hop in on the thread, but thanks for the help. graemlins/thumbsup.gif
shannont Mar 22nd, 04, 8:13 PM I got a pair of DAD seats in my Z and they are by far the most comfortable seat I've been in.

Bomber '67 Mar 22nd, 04, 8:48 PM Interestingly I have sat in both the APC seats and the Pro-Stock seats you already have - I liked the ones you have better than the APC. You would probably be happy with some reupholstered Fiero seats, or other similar import car seats. I do believe the one piece Pro-Stock style seats to be safer than a regular folding/reclining seat.

Thad Mar 22nd, 04, 9:18 PM I've got a brand new pair of those summit seats,
and I'm going to sell them, because they make it too hard to use the back seat.
I've sat in them and don't know if its because I'm tall or what.
but I don't find them comfortable.
(My car is mostly street, and will be driven 80 miles,
to the nearest track, on frost heaved Pennsylvania roads.)
I was going to go with latemodel leather buckets,
or import style seats, until I found a bench.
Pat Kelley Mar 22nd, 04, 11:51 PM Yeah, the Summit seat really isn't a good choice for a streeter. Until I put some foam rubber under the cover of mine I'd get a bruse in my back just driving the return road. It's not bad at all now.
bigjimzlll Mar 22nd, 04, 11:57 PM I just installed those summit seats in my truck...lol...I thought the suspension was messed up...felt every bump..rock..trading stamp..they work..but I wouldn't want drive any more than 3/4 of mile
mc71454 Mar 23rd, 04, 9:02 AM I have logged about 8,000 miles on those seats over 4 years....Never thought I was such a hard a$$
feedphillipnow Mar 23rd, 04, 6:42 PM Shannon, Someone has my seats! :D I have those same ones, good price, and comfortable. I love them, same color too..., I got a super deal from a guy I found on the East Coast. Not bad at all, DAD's arent bad at all....

The only draw back is they are a little heavy for all out racing, but I'm building a "Street Car" so.... well sort of :D
JOEL_TX Mar 24th, 04, 1:47 PM These Procar Rave1600 series or the Extreme1700 series look cool and comfortable for a street car.
Pricing for Rave's were $390ea and Xtreme's were $234.00ea
Look here: http://www.procarbyscat.com/procarrave02.html
427L88 Mar 24th, 04, 3:42 PM hhehe, I was thinking that Tom's pic looks just like my kids' car seat but "SUPERSIZED" for the big man...and then you guys are talking about DAD's seats, ...how funny....!
There you go, a big daddy seat! Maybe even a Father's Day gift to take the idea to the limit... ;) tongue.gif
lucky3 Mar 25th, 04, 10:32 AM I just got a new corbeau seat the gt7 off e-bay brand new for $200 retail is $340. So far i love it and it looks good in the car. If i could figure out how to post pics on this site i would put some up.
Team140 Mar 25th, 04, 11:48 AM One thing I've found with aftermarket seats is Corbeau seats have the shortest fabric lifespan.
My roommate has a set of DAD seats in his road-track built 240SX (400HP to the ground, mind you!)and they are by far the nicest seat per $ I've sat in. For someone with a larger frame they would probably get uncomfortable. For me at 6'2" and 155lbs, they fit like a glove and are very comfortable, provide outstanding lateral support and won't kill you on long trips.
I don't work for DAD, I'm just blown away at the quality per $ spent is all. I can get pictures of them installed if anone would like.
Oh yeah, speaking of odd seat manufacturers with their names embroidered in the seats, BRIDE is a big tuning company in Japan. If both seats are for the "BRIDE", where's the groom sit?
JOEL_TX Mar 25th, 04, 1:22 PM ShannonT- Where did you get your DADS seats from?Thats a killer price and they look plush..
Cable May 31st, 07, 7:24 PM Digging up an old topic, I am sure Tom won't mind....
I am in the market for Sport seats to replace my stock Datsun seats and replace my fixed back seats in my old K5.
Its been three years since this thread died, I am sure there has to be some updates....
mc71454 May 31st, 07, 8:31 PM Cool, I thought I was losing my mind, I didn't remember posting that today...:D
