I can get a set of used headers for my 70 chevelle for $125
The headers are Dynomax Blackjack painted headers
He said he paid $230 a couple of years ago at summit racing and said hes got the receipt and the part number on it is WLK-86110.
There is a dent and some scratches on one of the drivers side primarys but not really bad.

Ok heres the questions
1. Do you guys think I should get them?, they are local so no shipping costs
2. The primarys arent equal lengths, ive got a mild performance engine, so is it still good to have?

if you want to look them up and see what they are
SUMMIT RACING PARTS NUMBER:
WLK-86110

Thanks

He said he had them on a big block GTO and said they were made for the chevelle, any opinions?

doesnt summit racing carry your style in there 80 dollar header section....i would go that route buy new for as cheap as they are and get everything like gaskets, bolts, collectors and shipping is only 8.50 or so for the handling fee......this looks like a better deal then someone elses used headers for more.

Are you going to have them coated? Check in to the price of coating and be sure to mention that the headers are used. I think used headers can be coated, but you need to check. That's going to increase the price of those used headers quite a bit.

We just installed some coated Patriot headers on a 69 sbc. Those coated headers drop the underhood temperature significantly (I wish I remembered how much!). The only bad thing about the Patriots (I have a call in to Pertronix, the company that makes Patriot headers) is that the number 5 exhaust makes contact with the steering shaft.

Quick edit: It says those are long. Are you sure you want long? There is a significant ground clearance issue.
We got Patriot shorties and we still have a ground clearance problem. The driver's side header hangs down quite a bit farther than the passenger side. With the street adapter (I think that's what it's called, it bolts to the end of the header) it hangs down even further. We ended up cutting off a good two to three inches of the street adapter and it still hangs down quite a way. Far enough that we have to go slowly over some speed bumps.

I dont quite understand what you mean about the ground clearance issue.

Okay, let's see if I can get this one right.

Do you have a speed shop any where near you? You need to look at shorty headers, as well as the traditional long tube runners. The difference will be obvious to you. As mentioned, I got some Patriot shorties for our sbc, because of the ground clearance issue. If you compare the shorties to the LTRs you'll see what I'm talking about.

Even with the shorties that we have, the driver's side header hangs down much more than the passenger side. So much more so that I still have a ground clearance issue. I have to take some speed bumps very slow, to avoid contact.

It sounds like you need to look around at the various kinds of headers that are available. The Patriots seem to be a Hedman knock off. I would have preferred a nice set of Hooker headers, (along with a set of Aero Chambers) but the darn things are expensive.

I wouldn't worry too much about losing out on those headers, in light of the column shift issue. Check out e-bay. There are a lot of headers offered there regularly.

BTW, the LTRs are supposed to be worth more power than the shorties.

I sure hope I got this one right.
