Any tips? I was starting at the trunk and realized this is not going to be fun.

I see a lot of tips on install.

I have a 65 and will be removing everything before a media blast.
Thanks!

Small flat screwdriver. Scrape it out.

I've used laquer thinner and got away with it. It would be nice of a member to step up and elaborate about this subject. I have lots of weatherstrip to remove myself as I'm jamming the new paint now. A seasoned pro might give us more insight to how to remove vast feet of the adhesive around the doors as well as the trunk. I too tried a screwdriver, but wasn't enthused by the progress I'm making, or the results. Gotta be something easier. I tried a sharp wood chisel against ideas my wood shop teacher wood have had.

3-M makes weather strip remover. I have never used it but got a can and will be trying it soon.

Acetone is a adhesive softener. It evaporates fast but will take off the goo.

I just now tried some 3M general purpose adhesive cleaner. #08987 red & white can. NOT good results. I know it doesn't say remover. Directions mention spraying on surfaces that have adhesive to be cleaned off, so I tried it. I still had to scrape it out.
I'll try the laquer thinner next.

Lacquer thinner will dissolve any adhesives there. It will come off very easy.

I'll latch on to this thread and ask how to remove weather strip without hurting the paint?

I installed my trunk seal wrong, and of course I used the 3M weather strip adhesive the whole way around. I want to take it off and install a new seal properly. The paint is acrylic enamel.

Thanks,
Andrew

if your sending to the blaster, just use a wire wheel on the end of a drill or grinder. that will make quick work of it.
