This will be my first time trying to adjust my carb.I've mainly been dealing with my fuel injected Camaro but we have a carbureted Chevelle now.The carb is a Holly 4 barrel(not sure what size),where do I start? The carb may not be out of tune,it runs ok.I just want to make sure i'm getting everything out of the carb.
Sorry for such a newbie question,I just don't have anybody else to ask.Any other advice that would help me make sure this car is running it's best please feel free to respond.
Thanks in advance,
JE

the best way is if you have a tach. it will be helpfull. warm your engine up to normal opperating temp. then let it idle set the idle screw on the throttle linkage to achive your desired idle speed then use a small flat blade screw driver to adjust the small mixture screws on the side of the front metering plate. start on the drivers side and turn the screw in clockwise 1/4 turn at a time until you here the engine speed slow down then start backing up counter clockwise 1/4 turn at a time untill you get the highest idle speed then repeat on the outher side . then go back and recheck the drivers side and then recheck the pass side again. you may have to lower the idle speed adjustment to get it to idle back at the proper speed.
