My last PM from Tony Mamo.............
Tony, I hope you are reading right along.
....concerning creating SB LS-port heads that will fit the old cast-iron SB blocks finally go it through my thick head that it will NEVER be done UNLESS somebody see's an opportunity to make a BUCK!! AND I think the BUCK is just waiting to be plucked! Ain't gonna happen from AFR tho.............
And that there will NEVER be a TRUE MAGAZINE BB head test that will include untouched, out-of-the-box, OFF-THE-SHELF, aftermarket aluminum and cast-iron heads AGAINST GM's -215 and -781/-049 heads that are reworked w/ no more than 2.19"/1.88" valves added and just a "shade-tree" bowl-blended/dingle-berry casting flash port clean-up to catch them up!
Same CR. and quench creating short block testing ALL heads!! And please PROVE me wrong!!
I honestly think that the "shade-tree", mildly reworked GM heads will prove to be a better power producing value BUCK-wise vs the aftermarket heads and they ALL, the Mag's included, know it!!
Just like I keep saying that the 454 P/U engine guys want/need/will pay for a cast-iron Merlin 290 cc intake port large oval head that has a 90 or so cc combustion chamber so that they can get up to like 9.75 to almost 10 to 1 all the while USING stock valve train parts!!
I say this b/c of just going from say 7.9 or 8 to 1 CR up to darn near 10 to 1 CR. will make a bunch of power using a stock 454 P/U engine shortblock!!
W/P's create's and sell's it at close to the same price as their Merlins and they will make a P/U load of money unless $4.00/gallon gas kill's our HOBBY!!
