: Why should i build a engine with less than 540 cui.
godsend Jan 12th, 04, 8:38 AM Competition Products sells a 565 cui shortblock with great parts for 4700$
That is a new Shortblock.
Mine 468 has alot more money in it. that with a Carillo/crower bottom, new block etc.
Im going for i new block i think. And a set of heads.
Will a Comp cam Streetroller with 254/260 660/666 lift feed a 565/572/598/632 engine with 360 heads. Up to 6000rpm.
If so i can take my new cam, roller lifters, pushrods, rockers, intake, new Efi setup etc and just buy a shortblock with heads. Mayby a larger roller cam...
doggy69 Jan 12th, 04, 6:28 PM I dont see why not depending on the cr.
pdq67 Jan 12th, 04, 7:02 PM I just got back from C/P's web site and didn't see what you are talking about with respect to shortblock motors.
Can you post a link??

68chevelle533 Jan 12th, 04, 8:37 PM The 254/260 should work up to 6000, but is probably a little small for so large an application, comp has more xtreme energy solid roller street grinds in the back of the catalog. I had them grind a 260/266 cam for my 533. They also list a 272 cam profile so you could go up to a 266/272 cam and still stay in there "street" roller series.
UDHarold Jan 12th, 04, 10:40 PM I have several street rollers for the 502-572 BBCs.
The 287/295R10, 256/264 at .050, .660/.660 valve lift works fine with 502 to 540 BBCs around 10:1. Depending on the car weight, etc, 11.10s into the 10s, driving 125 miles each way to the track.
The 295/303R12, 264/272 at .050, .660/.660 valve lift, and 112 LSA, made over 750 BHP in a 10:1 CR 572.
For an 'Old School' cam, I have a 300/306R10 that made over 700 BHP out of a 10.5 534. The specs are 264/270 at .050, .670/.670 valve lift, 110 LSA, and it had good power at 3200. This cam was passed the 300-hour test at Mercury-Marine.
I also have some 'new stuff' coming out in the next few months......

That is a new Shortblock.
For what it's worth I got a 540 shortblock from Shafiroff delivered for $4470. It's not 565 cubes but it isn't far off either. Just something to think about! :D

That's the exact cam I use. 310 heads. and a granny gear.
godsend Jan 13th, 04, 6:51 AM 2800lbs. Street monster ;) 17" wide 33" slicks and 4.11 gears. (went from 4.88)
4500 stall.
Streetracings is its purpuse. Mid to high 8:s
It should go for a couple years between repairs. And only some valve adjustments a year.
I went 9.32/227km with my old engine. Problem is gear. went out of rpm so about 250km/h is the real top speed. 5.97/193@201m with a ovalport 468 on 300 shot.
Print their catalog. There it is. Rotating assemblies with block and machine jobs.

509ci - build with your 468 bottom end, bowtie/dart block, 13.5+1 compression, fully ported heads in the 330cc range with exhaust port 280+cfm - plate/fogger setup with 7531 MSD box (look it up) - and put all the spinning big stroke motors to shame.
Nitrous will build all the tq you want - put the gear back in the car - spin the motor to save the bearings on nitrous - put the proper cam profile in to be stable to 8K - and never worry about being run out the top end again.
IMO

godsend Jan 14th, 04, 5:18 AM Thats not a street motor ;) Im running on 92 Octane also.
With nitrous i used toulene, But this year ill use 108 octane NOS gas. in the nitrous tank. that will blend with my 92 octane in the engine.
