Hi,
I'm new to engines and my '72 Chevelle has an Edelbrock 750cfm carb on it and I'm switching it to a Qjet and was wondering how I would install it? Sorry for such a dumb question. I'm an amateur at this.

Thanks,
Ethan

Pretty simple swap:

Unplug your battery.
Disonnect vacuum lines, throttle cable, choke wire if you have a choke, etc.
Disconnect fuel line, be prepared for the gas to come out.
Loosen the 4 nuts holding it to the intake, pull it up and off.
Clean up the intake area if the gasket stuck at all, try not to get any crap down the intake.
Reverse the procedure with the new carb - hookups should be very similar, but your fuel connection may need to be changed a little.

I might have missed something, but you can see everything that needs to come off and go back on, just take your time and pay attention.

Note the new carb will be empty and may take a few cranks to fill up. Might want to have some starting fluid handy to help kick the engine over initially.

What kind of edelbrock was it? If it is a square bore then I think you will need an adapter to make it fit your manifold.

Jeremy,
It was the Performer Series carb. I think the part number was 1407. It also has a newer intake manifold on it. Its Edelbrock as well.

Thanks,
Ethan

You'll probably need something like this:

Part # SUM-G1401, spread bore carburetor to square bore manifold.

The Edlebrock manifold on mine is desgned to accomodate either the Edlebrock or the Quadrajet (a change I plan to make soon!)

take the old carb off and put the new one in it's place.
then, it's just a matter of hooking up the fuel line, vacuum hoses, and throttle cable.
don't over think it- it's almost the most simple thing to do on a car- and if you can't figure something out, come on back and ask questions.
