That is ugly...as always JMO.

However, I do appreciate the skill that was required to do the modification

this is where you see guys strong points. some people are good at engine bays, some interior, etc. i personally don't like the chop job, but he could have taken some of the severity away with sitting the car right. in my opinion the car sits to high. i think this is a car that could have been improved with 19's & 20's, and it sitting almost on the ground in the front, and just a tad higher than ground clearence in the back.

i can't say much, because i don't even have a friggin chevelle, and i sure don't have the talent to chop a top. all i can say, is it isn't my prefence...

i happened across it searching for something else. that chop itself is cool. i wonder what it would look like with 3" of drop and wider, shorter tires.

Although not my cup of tea, I think it would look pretty good if it was lowered down a bunch.

I agree w/ lowering as well. BUT one thing I noticed is that the HC stripe on the fender is correct looking, as opposed to recent HC's posted where they are wrong. My .02

To me the chop makes it look sort of like a 70 or 71 Torino.

It took a lot of skill to do that chop so clean and I completely agree that it would look really good if it was lowered.

imo if your going to chop the top, then you have to slam is to the ground also. thebody works looks good, but i think its just too high.

I think He sold that a long time ago, to focus on the Wagon project.

looking at the picture the only thing it really needs is the hairy guy sticking out of the sunroof with the shifter above the roof. I forget the artists name, but didnt they do alot of pics like that in the old CARtoon magazine? I wished I had the patience to do that kind of work. jim

hi, guys that is my car. i still have, you might be thinking of the other yellow chevelle i had with painted fiberglass bumpers that i sold a few years ago. i still have the chopped top and drive it almost everyday. i recently moved to north carolina and i am sitting in a hotel in aberdeen maryland about 10 hours morth of my home and i drove the chevelle as usual. its either that or my black wagon.
i do appreciate the different opinions, i had it slammed as low as it would go already, but in person, i really like the ride hight it is at now and the rake on it. i put 2" lowered moroso springs in the front and wagon springs i the rear. the car handles pretty good. it didnt look "Muscle " enough for me when it was lowered. i do want to blacken out the grill still.

I would've done the chop different, not that I could actually do it, lol. But if I could, I would've done it so that the original rear window could be used. It would take a lot more work but I would played with it until the entire window could be "layed/angled" fastback style. But this would take a lot more work to do correctly, probably making the front winshield trickier to deal with.

And then I would slam it.

IF I DO ANOTHER ONE I WOULD DO THE SAME THING. it would avoid making all the custom glass. i dont think it would be more work even. you can use the window frame just like it is in its entirety instead of cutting and splicing. also with the front and rear tilted in the roof would not be as long. i just wanted to keep all the same window angles. also when i change the motor i am going to use shorty headers. when i slamed it before, they hit on everything.

Does your head hit the roof ?? Seriously

FO_FDYFO

NOPE. i put the seat as close to the floor as possible. also the seat leans back. and where the sun roof is the eiling is a couple of inches higher. so i have a few inches from my head to the ceiling. it is actually very comfortable. the roof is only 4 inches shorter. think about a regular roof, you probably have 4" above your head there, add lowering the seat, leaning it back and no head liner just above your head and you can amagine there is no problem.

I like it. I would not have painted the bumpers, but then it's not my car.

OK. EVERYONE HAS AN OPINION. Mine is. Some things should be jst left alone. Thats not a car to chop!! Like I said. Everyone has an opinion. Thats mine. To each his own!

I really like it. Chopped top cars are what attracted me to Hot Rods, oh so long ago.
