Any one know of a good cam for bone stock 327(standard) never has had any work on heads or deck. I checked archives but too much info to narrow it down. sorry. the engine is all stock flat top 4 relife valve pistons, has small valve "462" /64cc heads pressed in rocker studs.
i would prefer to use existing push rods rockers
and springs. i may consider new springs i have acsess to the z-28 springs from a freind. so far this is what i have performer intake, edelbrock 600cfm carb. pair of long tube headers, summit hei distributor. ive got a th350 and 3.08 rear gears.i am going upgrade with stall and gears in future. will be street driven only.ive just need advise on cam selection car just needs to get out of place were im storing it asap. thanks ED

Harold's 264F10 would be a good solid cam.

Don't cheap out, buy a new set of $25 Z-28 springs! And the cam Uncle mentioned is a REAL winner in the little motor!!

I'd run a steel shim head gasket since it's tough to build compression with the flattop four eyebrow pistons. My son's 331 ended up with a static ratio of 10.1-1 with two valve relief flattops and the deck was decked to zero. Make sure your cam matches the compression ratio you'll have. We ended up with 180 psi cranking compression on the 331 with a Comp XS268 solid lifter cam. Don't skimp on valvesprings-they are one of the cheaper things to buy when building a mild smallblock. 327's like to rev. Bob

Go with the cheap, $25 a set Z-28 springs!!

Competition Products, Powerhouse and Midwest Motorsports all sell them worth the money!!

Everything else is fine..

And if you have double hump heads on it you are right at 10 to 1 CR. as it is with flat-tops if I remember right.. Otherwise use a pair of either Fel-pro's PN 1094 shims at .015" thick or Mr. Gasket shims at .018"/.020" to up your CR. a schosh to 10!

Run it through the ROSS Racing Pistons compression ratio calculator by using like .025" down in the hole and about -4 cc's for valve notches.
