I don't want to run copper gaskets anymore, anyone reccomend a good fel pro gasket? I have large oval port close chamber 396/427 heads and full length ceramic headers, O ports. Ive also heard of people using some red sealant, letting it tach up then mounting the headers. Any good?

I've used the paper gaskets that came with my Dynomax headers, lasted 3 yrs, the builder that just built my new motor had regular exhaust manifold gaskets on the motor from when he started the motor in his shop, I just bolted my headers up using those gaskets, so far so good.

Cheap paper gaskets with ultra black RTV smeared on both sides. Don't forget to retighten 2-3 times. Won't leak.

Phil, If you're going to use rtv sealant use the orange high temp stuff with copper in it I think. I used it on the dyno with shop headers and it worked fine.

Sounds good to me! Ive heard the red stuff works really well. Black is Hi-temp also isnt it? Why dont header bolts use washers? No threadlocker goes on them right... pretty positive the answer is no. I just had a few bolts that LOVED backing out on my small block shorty headers, they were bolts I couldnt get a torque or even standard socket wrench in, just an open end hand wrench, it was pretty pathetic. Dont they make something called crows foot sockets?

Ok, my ports are 1.75" Height and Width
Would a 1.90 x 1.850 size gasket be alright? Its the closest size I could fine, they should just be a hair larger than the ports right?
