Anyone ever see blue bucket seats in a 70? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320242024284&_trksid=p2759.l1259

I've seen a few of them Dale, there was a 70 Astro blue, medium blue interior bucket seat car a few weeks ago at a Moroso dragstrip car show in W. Palm. There have been a few on E-bay lately as well, they are different looking for sure.

I had a '70 ls5 convertible back in the '80's. It was astro blue with medium blue interior. It was a bucket seat car also had black top and stripes. If I can figure out how to use my scanner, I found some lost pic's, I will post them on my sig.

First blue bucket seat 70 I've seen. Chevrolet's parts book doesn't list a trim code for them. Not that unusual as I've seen other 'undocumented' interior codes. If anyone knows the code...

Dale, the Chevelle and El Camino ID Model Codes book shows med. blue buckets as 765 in the 1970 chevelles. The odd thing is, it is listed for model 13667 cars.

I think the code for Blue buckets is 765 and was only available on ElCaminos and convertibles. Notice the car on Ebay lists the exterior color 25 but not the interior code. I would be curious as to what it is.

If I'm not mistaken it has to do with convertible cars only being able to have vinyl, not cloth seats.

Regardless if original to a coupe or not...I like it!

I think the code for Blue buckets is 765 and was only available on ElCaminos and convertibles. Notice the car on Ebay lists the exterior color 25 but not the interior code. I would be curious as to what it is.I wrote and ask him for the code or a photo of the tag and he said he'd have to go take a look - guess the car isn't handy. The Chevelle and El Camino ID Model Codes book as well as Colvin's 70-75 book both show the blue buckets as 765 where the Chevrolet Trim Combination Chart in my parts book shows 765 as bench - but it has been wrong before as well. :(

The odd thing is, it is listed for model 13667 cars.In the (incorrect) bench version it (765) is listed for convertibles and sedan pickups. Quite common for vinyl, or 'coated fabric' as they called it in 70, to be a requirement in both as well as most wagons.

If I'm not mistaken it has to do with convertible cars only being able to have vinyl, not cloth seats.[/quote]Ditto.

Regardless if original to a coupe or not...I like it! :thumbsup:Couldn't agree more! I guess that's what struck me first about the car, it didn't have a black or white interior. Having seen it now it's a very, VERY nice combination.

My LS6 convert is Fathom Blue code 28 with 765 medium blue bucket seats. My info shows 765 as medium blue buckets and 764 as medium blue bench. I've had a few blue interior cars in the shop. Needless to say, I like it.

Was a one owner EL-Camino when I bought it in 02. Wish I had not Sold that one, But it was an Automatic and I wanted a 4 Speed at the Time.

Dale,

Sure have. About 15 or 20 years ago I saw a unique 2nd owner car, restored, 70 SS CV Astro blue, white stripes, white top, and med blue interior. Loaded with options, a/c, pw, pdl, fiber optic, viglit on the fenders. Car was very well documented. What really made it special and why I remember, it was a special order promotional car given to one of the Apollo astronauts. I don't recall which one, although I do remember it was a name I was not familar with.

I either saw the car at a Super Chevy Show or the NCOA Nationals. I only saw it the one time. As I recall the then owner lived in Northern Ohio.

I've seen one car with Blue buckets seats and it's a 70 SS convertible owned by Ken from Ground Up.

Several 70 engine pads I've seen have the GM Division number '1' preceding the year, plant, and sequence number - at least on KC, Atlanta, and Arlington cars.

The only plant that I've witnessed a 7 in front of the 0 year code was the St. Louis plant when I've inspected 70 Corvettes. I posed this question with all the Corvette gurus I know and although they confirm this as how 70 Corvette V.I.N. derivitives are stamped, nobody could give me a definitive answer as to why it was done this way. Kansas City and all other assembly plants should have a 1 in front of the model year on the con vin stamping. Anything else would be an error.

LIttle late on here, but I forgot, Tom Parson's (DZAUTO) 70 Malibu convertible has a blue bucket interior.
