I have a few questions for you guys about your 502's. 1) how do they idle, rough/smooth, do you need a vacum resivoir/will they work with power disc brakes. 2) What stall convertor are you using. 3) what size and type of carb are you using, and what type of fuel pump are you using. 4) and finally probally a dumb question but what type of fuel economy do you get. Sorry for hijacking your thread 91gmc.

Brandon 1. Idles nice, smoother than my 396. No vacuum resevoir. Power brakes work good.

2. Sorry don't know, didn't install it, but it deffinately isn't stock, best guess 2500 rpm stall.

3. The 850 holley that came with it.

4. Don't know, haven't checked, and the car is apart now for paint.

I've seen posts of people who either built, or "know they could" build badder engines cheaper, than the ZZ-502.
But if you:
Don't want the hassel of ordering parts,

Finding a reliable machine shop, in your part of the state, that has the time to machine your used crank, and block.

Lack the expertise to assemble and properly check clearences on the build up.

And have heard some of the horror stories of people who tried it.

This thing rocks.
Sure everybody who has one, is making as much power as you. But its super easy to live with (I doubt its economical) it runs just fine on 92 octane gas.

Its really a great engine.
12s on street tires in a car you could take Granny to the market in.
