Hi, Been getting some water in my trunk, so this weekend removed the trim from around the rear window...found some rust/holes so need to find some repair panels.
I have seen the panel that goes between the trunk and window, but need to repair the sides also..does anyone make such a patch panel ??...don't want to replace the complete rear 1/4s as they are in good condition apart from the window area. :(

Thanks for your replies....making up patches may be the way to go, but gonna have to make several...theres at least 1/4 of the side areas damaged/missing. :(

Hi,
Cut, patch and weld. If you don't have a welder find a buddy who can do the welding for you.http://pic14.picturetrail.com/VOL534/834537/17525807/278487200.jpg

If you need to make a panel with some simple and even complex shape, you can make a panel via hammer form. Basically you make a form or mold and hammer the metal into the mold to make a part.
This picture is a simple hammer form. If you wanted to make the area around the rear window channel I would make a hammer form of the area.

You have a bottom die or half that is what you want the part to look like when done. The top die is just a clamp to hold the metal in place. You can make the hammer form out of fiberglass bondo for complex shapes or MDF found at home depot. Simple process for making parts...Eric

The panel between the rear window and the trunk opening is the only panel I've found available anywhere. You'll have to fabricate patch panels for the rusted areas.
With a grinder or small cut-off wheel, tin snips, and a MIG or TIG welder, you can fix this yourself. I was intimidated doing this recently being a beginner weldor, but was able to fix a seriously rotted window channel with just these tools. My car's bottom corners were destroyed, with many quarter-sized holes up the sides. Even the top channel needed major fixing.
Compare yours to this:

Here's one patch I cut and welded together from flat sheet metal:

When it was all done, filled and smoothed, I painted the entire channel with POR-15 to permanently seal it. Given patience and the right tools, a beginner can do this repair.
