Degreed the cam yesterday on the 296/304, On the card it says in opens at 29.5 with a 102 centerline. I came up with 24 in opens and a 106 centerline with the timing chain dot to dot, So i used the +2 and came up with a 26 in opens and a 104 centerline, What i dont understand does the numbers on the card have to be exact? Cause if i go another 2 degrees advanced i still will not have 29.5 in opens? Or is it close enough...mike

Mike,

As far as I'm concerned, 104 is as good as 102. In the old days, about 70% of the engines like 6° advance better than 4° advance, to the tune of 3 or 4 BHP. As a betting man, I always said, "6° advanced", but only a dyno can tell which one is better, without trying them both. If you have 104 then I'd run it on 104....
Let me know how it does.....
