I tried removing my front 67 door panel today and got stuck. I was replacing the door handles, and was able to do it with removing all the screws and just pulling the door panel back giving me enough room to work. How do you get the door panel released at the top part where the chrome trim strip is? I know there are some sort of clips or fasteners there, but I couldn't see a thing, and it wouldn't budge when I pulled on it. Thanks for your help. Shawn

This is how I remove the front DP on my 65 2 door (I'll assume they are similar):
-Remove the arm rest (2 screws)
-Remove the window crank and the inside door handle
-Remove the lower screws (on the bottom of the DP)
-Pull out the door panel clips from the metal door (on the sides of the DP)
-After making sure that you clear both the door handle stud and the window crank stud. The door panel should just fall from the upper stainless trim.

on my 67, the panel just slides up into the chrome top trim. If you are sure you have all the clips released from sides, and all screws removed, should just be able to tug on it a little and will put down/out from the trim

I don't have any door panel clips, at least I cannot see any. I have about 10 screws around the bottom and sides, and then the chrome strip at the top. After I got the screws out, I could tell that the only thing holding it on was the chrome strip area at the top of the door. I tried pulling on it pretty hard, any harder and that door panel was going to be ripped in two. I'll try again tonight, this is frustrating stuff.

Sounds like the person who owned the car before you modified the door panels (hopefully the DPs were not cemented to the door). There should be about 6 stainless screws w/washers on the bottom of the DP and 12 aluminum clips between the DP and the door (6 on the front and 6 on the rear). You just might have to figure out what was done before and reverse it. GOOD LUCK
