i have a 10 bolt with 2.73 gears with 25 splines on the pinion gear. i want to put 3.55 gears in it now, will the original carrier still work or do i need to replace it with the gears as well. Also is 3.55 good for street only, this is my first rearend rebuild

Your original carrier will not work. You need a 3 series carrier for a 3 series gear. 3.55's are getting up there but they are suitable for street use.

you can get a open case for around 100.00 or go full out and get a posi while you are there. 3.55 gears are a good all around performance gear. a little hard at 75 on the freeway. depends on your average speed

so anything less than 3.55 would get better and better for highway driving?

also what about my side gears?

3.55's are good if you are going to cruise around 60 mph. At 75 mph they kinda suck.
