I am putting my engine back together and need a water pump. Should I rebuild the one I have, pay someone to rebuild,or buy a Napa pump? Or, anyone have a lead on affordable pump distributor online. I don't need date correct high dollar stuff.

For the security and piece of mind, I'd go new. There are so many choices out there at reasonable prices. Try matching up yours with a new NAPA pump. You can get new high flow pumps from Summit or Jeggs too. It just depends on how much money you want to spend. Don't be "cheap" with water pumps. It could come back to bite you.

Thanks, I'll have to check the part number on my pump to see if it is correct. I hate to match my new one to the wrong thing.

Consider a high flow pump and thermostat from Stewart. It is probably one of your best returns on investment.

Don't confuse casting numbers (that found on water pumps) with part number (not found on water pumps). Unless it's a concourse restoration, which you indicate it isn't, I agree with a good, new, pump.

Check the pricing you may just find that having your original water pump rebuilt is cheeper than buying new. Rember just because its new dont mean its better, as many people have found out you can get bad parts. besides once its rebuilt it will be new again. Also depends on what you want, if you want aluminum buy new, If the pump that you have is original and you are trying to keep that original look, do the rebuild. I had my "811" pump rebuilt for that original look The choice is yours...the skys the limit :hurray:

My correct dated "811" $175 Pump off ebay leaked like a Faucet.

Found a 1971 "811" rebuilt from a local parts supplier for $46.
