How many trucks out there can the front disk brakes be interchanged with the 68 chevelle? I've heard the S10 could be swaped in but the rotors would be too small. But how about the 1500 series trucks would they work? or even the H3 hummer?? thanks

El Caminos ;)

I know some guys run truck calipers with 'vette rotors, and home-built brackets.

I am using the S10/Gbody Disc brake swap on the front of my 67 chevelle and it works great. I wont argue that bigger rotors might be better but GM put these same brakes on hundreds of thousands of malibus, cutlass, regals that weigh as much or more than our chevelles so i am not sure where the "rotors are to small" issue comes from.

The S10 and G body spindles and rotors are identical.I used 84 S10 spindles but purchased a set of aftermarket slotted rotors although the stock rotors would have been fine. The S10 spindle lower ball joint taper has to be reamed slightly to fit the chevelle lower ball joint other than that it is a bolt in.The steering arms where the tie rod ends hook up on S10 spindles are about 1" longer so there is a slight reduction in turning radius(not noticeable to me). There are two types of calipers for this application pre '80 calipers are standard calipers that can be used with standard master cylinders, post '80 calipers are considered "quick take up" calipers and a "Quick take up" master cylinder must be used.
