: Can i re-use these Valve body gaskets?

I asked over in the tranny forum yesterday, not getting any bites- i want to do this tomorrow, so kind of need some advice..

I want to pull the valve body back off to pull out 3 of the check balls (I didn't follow the instructions last week when I put the shift kit in, and replaced all 6)... I need to know weather or not its ok to reuse the two paper gaskets that go on either side of the valve body plate, or if i need to call b&m and get dry ones...

Thanks-
Ben

As long as they don't tear I would re-use them, it's only been a week.

Did you try NAPA to see if they had any just in case?

If they come apart O.K., I'd re-use them. Check at NAPA, or the other's to see if They have them in stock.

Another yes here. If they aren't torn you should be able to get another torque out of them.

Do i need to try and clean them or anything? When i took it apart the first time to install the shift kit, the gaskets were really dripping with tranny fluid...

It is ok to put them back 'wet' ?

Wet will be fine, when You torque down the VB, there won't be any fluid between them.;)

Its all back together now with just 3 balls... Went a lot faster this time since i knew what i was doing... Thanks for the tip on putting in the drain plug dave! Sure did come in handy!

Tranny cooler is in & plumbed
Shift kit has been modified, and filled back up with juice...

Unfortunatly before i could go test drive it and test for leaks, it started raining... But we'll get er out tomorrow if its dry to see if it shifts harder now.

well, somehow i still spilled a ton(really, i don't know how it spilled or where it came from!)
but was much less messy than leting all the fluid 'RAIN' down on you as you pull the pan bolts... ;)

I like the smell of Gas... I've grown to like the smell of 80/90 diff fluid... But i've never liked the smell of tranny fluid... Nothing good about that red crap at all...

But, You will find that a trans temp gauge will screw right into the plug hole.
