:hurray:
so I figure what the heck, I'll look inside the right side fender too. After finding one in the left side I'm thinking there's no way there's one on the pass. side. I was wrong. There it was barely hanging on.

Pretty  Is this a Kansas built car? My Kansas built 69 convert had one glued on the inside of each front fender :D:hurray:

The fender (and all other front sheet metal) were painted apart from the car and conveyed to the final assembly line so they would have bs's on them provided the workers did not pull them off as they installed them.

Bill, Thanks. Yes, a Leeds car. Owner car, Sold and kept locally. Until last July the car hadn't been driven since 81-82.
I kept meaning to check the right side, but really hadn't thought too much after finding the left side and having gone thru most of the interior, although more to rid the car of mouse "condos" and droppings. I keep vacuuming up these tiny nuts that are falling from underneth the dash. So there I was Sat. vacuuming again, I peered into the jamb and there it was.
I have yet to pull the door panels. But I'm not counting on finding anything more.
Mike. You teach me something new everyday. Your knowledge on these cars astounds me sometimes. Thanks!

My Kansas-built 65 Z16 had a very nice and complete build sheet in the back seat. Last fall I looked up in the fenders as best I could and did not see anything in either one, so I assumed nothing was there. Then while washing away the spider webs around the heater box under the hood, the remnants of a second build sheet washed out the bottom of the passenger door jamb!
It's in about 40 pieces, but has the IX engine code, the VIN, and 'MALIBU SS396' at the bottom all visible. I used the complete build sheet like the picture on a jigsaw puzzle box to re-assemble all the pieces of the tattered and torn 2nd sheet.
I still have to figure out how to get a better look up into the driver's side fender -- I'm not going to take the hose to that side now! Jeff

My '70 is a Leeds car also. Bought it in Colorado in 1993, drove it home to Norcal, over 1100 miles. Hosed it off to ready it for the garage and saw some paper hanging from pass. lower fender. I reached up to grab it and just before I was about to rip it off I realized what it was. I loosened the lower inner fender bolts and slid it out. It was about 95% complete. Checked the other side and found another that was about 80%. Have the pop as well.
