i ahve a 70 chevelle malibu. i want to change the color and get the vinyl top off of it.

i'm thinking of going with black with two grey ghost stripes. i also want to leave all the emblems off except the chevy emblem on the grill. im thinking of painting the inside of the emblem(the parts thats gold) grey to match the srtipes. the car has black interior and im worried that the grey ghost stripes might mess up the "flow" of the car.

any suggestions?

note- this is my daily driver in highschool. i dont want to clone it, or anything else. i want to make it..... mine.

It's your car, do what you want with it. Personally, I think your idea will look great - with or without the vinyl top.

Sounds to me it would look good, do it.

Good idea! I'm sure you know of all the colors out there, the bodywork MUST be perfect for black. Other colors are 'forgiving' and don't show the waves as black does.

the same thing has been driving me nuts for about a month and half. but i think black with gray stripes would look sweet.or maybe silver stripes would look cool too.

black(as dave said) is the only thing im worried about. its a staright car and has never been wrecked. it has minor dings, but other then that is fine.

im also in the "i want to remove my vinyl top" club. And i fear the day i take it off. Beware, there will be alot of rust under there, i already know mine has large pop-riveted patch panels to waterproof large rot holes. Not fun since nobody makes roof panels :(

If you're really persistant with block sanding, and use the longest blocks you can for a given area, you should be allright. I used the adhesive backed paper and it made the job much easier. Go for it!!
