For those who dont know there is a guy in my home town who painted his 70 chevelle the same color combo as mine......

After thinking about a color change for the last few months anyway .....Now I see that Mustang Rad rides just did and I have made a phone call to have a local paint guy come over to give me an idea how much it will cost.....

Wanted to get everyone to tell me what you think.....

You all know what my car looks like and here is a link to the mustang.....

This is performance, does the red color shave ET??? ;)

I wouldnt spend the money on yet ANOTHER red Chevelle. Not my favorite color, although I can't really tell the color from that mag cover.

Poll: NO I like it the way it is. Good enough for someone to copy!

In 1994, I painted my car purple, the color that came on Camaros, trucks and Vettes. Within six months there were 2 Chevelles within 1 mile of my house the same color. Both cars were sold soon after and I haven't seen them since. Give it some time.

There are probably 50 other people out there that saw the same episode of Rides and are now in the process of painting their cars the same color as that Mustang . . . so next year instead of one look-a-like you'll have 50.

Just my opinion.

One thing I new for sure, this time around, I did not want a Red, Blue, Black, or White car. Silver is a tough color to see in a picture. I have seen some that are almost white all the way to grey. Your paint looks good, why not consider changing only the striping. Something in a deep burgandy or a real deep blue may look good on the silver. Maybe even change the stripe to a different shade of silver. I think with your car it makes enough of a statement that you can drop the traditional color schemes. If you get tired of the stripe, you can easily change it on a whim.

this may sound sacriligous (sp?), but try looking @ some of the import colors. they have cool variations on the same theme. when I painted my camaro, I picked a Mitsubishi color that was a dark gray. the cool thing about it is that it had some red pearl in it & it changes colors on you. another beni is that you can check out just about any car in a parking lot & if you like the color get the color code & just about any paint shop can reproduce it w/o any trouble. I had him put a "bit" more red in it so that it would stand out some. it came out GREAT!

if you interested I have some pictures of it on my web site. its the 71 Camaro.

Just a thought.

Are we talking about the 05 on the cover or the silveresque project car? -edit- I was too slow and see we're talkign about the silver

In any case, if there is anyway that you can safely remove your paint scheme and Fed Ex it to me overnight I would gladly apply it to my car.

I think its bad ass as is, but I know why you want to change it.

I really like the new Nissan darker coffee / silverish color they have on the Exterra's.

Scott, is it the pics or does the Stang have a deeper silver color then yours now? I do like the 'Stang better but wonder if its accurate.

Sorry 'bout the red thing. Too many red cars out there. Wish mine was a plum factory car and not RR.

I'm with the "Your car looks great, give it some time, and the other car will go away" crowd.

I vote to either leave it alone or only change the color of the stripes. You have a sweet looking ride as it is. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

You must have some serious money to burn if your going to paint your car a different color simply because somone else copied you......imitation is a huge compliment. Take it and leave your car with the paint scheme you have....to tell you the truth you chevelle was on my desktop for about 6 months, thats what i think of your current paint scheme, its perfect for the car....but it got beat out by the camaro that is literally on its bumper coming off the line :D

It does suck when you put a lot of thought into a look and get copied but I had a guy get mad at me at the race track because I showed up with the same year model Chevelle. I aslo had another jerk get mad because my car was the color he "wanted" to use.

Well i gotta say they STRUCK OUT on that mustang, paint color is cool, but it just dosent look right, i say too much wheel not enough tire. Im not biased or anything, i usually love the pro touring look but that Mustang just dosnet have the look. I still say keep your current paint scheme

First of all you have a very sweet ride! But... If I had a car like that I would make sure it stands out and gets some attention. I think you should change it to yellow with black racing stripes. Let the other guy blend in with the asphalt.

I agree with everyone else. Your car is awesome the way it is. If you have to change it I would look at the stripes. I hope my '70 Chevelle loks half that good when I get it finished. graemlins/beers.gif

Scott-Your cars looks awesome the way it is. graemlins/thumbsup.gif What are the chances of you two being at the same place at the same time anyway, unless it is a local cruise night? Even then I bet your car is much nicer and would probably smoke his as well. I say leave it the way it is and don't worry about it. Aren't there some other things you would rather buy for your car?

Since a paint job is quite expensive, why not go another way to make the car stick out. Add an 8-71 huffer :D Your looks great. Why mess with perfection.

Thanks for all your words everyone......after looking at tons of pictures and thinking of other silvers etc....I'm NOT gonna paint it.....I will do something else....I also know of a local who is gonna paint his Nova light silver with black stripes etc......I'm just gonna leave it be.......

I'm off to go snowmobile riding to get my mind clear...........Thank again...... graemlins/beers.gif graemlins/beers.gif

Glad to see you decided to just sit tight and enjoy the car color as is smile.gif

And after looking at the mustang set up across from us all weekend at the DC WoW show I can tell you that it looks even better in person. Although I did wonder why they set him up right next to the GMPP booth graemlins/clonk.gif I actually think that the wheels could be one step down and the tires one step up but would take it either way smile.gif And I can tell you that this thing does sound badass with the blower on it. He had a few issues with the new sealed concrete floors in the convention but I didn' mind graemlins/hurray.gif
