Well guys, my Chevelle is back together and shifting smoother than ever! I am so glad these guys at Aamco didn't screw me. It is shifting very smooth. 3rd can be a clunky as it is new but it started going in like butter after 30 miles. Nothing seems loose, no strange noises, no vibrations. AND I have started power shifting into 2nd at 4500-4800 and IT STICKS!!!! OMG. And down shifting from 3rd to 2nd used be difficult but now is very easy. I knew I was better at down shifting than the way I was. It was the trans and that loose shifter fork.

Anyway, I am happy with how it went down and am very glad i survived crappy Aamco. Some of the things they were saying weren't the smartest things I've ever heard but most mechanics at shops don't always make sense IMO.

Grand total, $450 in parts, $900 in labor, $100 in overnight freight, and tax. I think it was fair since I don't have the time or place to drop the trans. Thanks for your help guys.........

Yea guys. I also spoke to Jeff at Midwest Muncies and he gave me some pointers on what should happen and info for the next rebuild/replacement. I will driving it all weekend. I wil try to take some videos.

OH, my garage got broken into and my tools were stolen. So I have to go get some new shiny tools! Kinda sucks but what can you do. Such a-holes in this world.

Segio,

Sorry to hear about your tools!

There's something to be said for taking it in and having someone do the trans. Everything is always much harder than what you expect. I am in the process of putting a new rear end in my Chevelle. 16 hours the last two days so far and a lot of fabrication, etc., and probably another 5-6 hours tomorrow. I basically figure out how many hours it's going to take to do something on my car, and then just double that.

Anyway, glad to hear it got done and is working right! Enjoy it! Let me know how it goes at the track next time you race it.
