Who nows the differents between the holley's 1050 cfm dominator,and what is the best for my merlin 540ci setup?
There are 3 different 1050 cfm dominators!
My speedshop says that the holley dominator 1050 cfm with number:HLY-0-8082-1 "the best of three"is for my combo!
Its using for weekend street/strip drivin ,and it has a edelbrock victor single plain,power-range:2500/6700rpm,and a performance mech fuel pump.
Whats the niced to work with?(adjustment).
The three holley 1050 cfm dominator numbers are:
HLY-0-8082-1.
HLY-0-8896-1.
HLY-0-9375-1.

There is actually a fourth 1050 Dominator, #80586 for alcohol. Your choices really come down to the 8082 or 8896, because the 9375 is meant for 2 x 4 applications. The 8082 has two circuit fuel metering and progressive linkage. The 8896 has three circuit fuel metering and "soft" progressive linkage. I'm running the 8896 on my 496, but that is mostly because I already had the carb. The 8082 should be fine on your 540. You may even have success with a bigger carb, my 496 pulls 2" vacumn in the low to mid 6,000 rpms.

I had real good luck with the 8082. It tunes like a std carb. With 540 inches you sure don't need any help in the torque dept. I bet it will actually be more driveable with the single plane and the big carb. For anyone using less cubes I don't recommend the single plane and Dominator.

I am just going to see how fast I can go with a regular old 4150 850 DP. I am curious to see how the dominator does in your application.
