i have a 68 chevelle with a 350 and a 4 spd in it and when you take off and get on it in anyway or even attempt to burn out i get real bad axle hop. i posted once in here and bought a set of ladder bars to help stiffen things up. but after looking i realized that my pinion angle was way off and the pinion was pointing way further down then it should. the car was an ex drag car and ive heard that they did it so that when they were running a real torquey engine it would even out the angle at high rpms. my question is, is there anyway besides buying adjustable upper control arms to fix the pinion angle. i was reading on here and it said something about cams in the control arms to help adjust the angle. can someone point me to a forum or a website that tells how to do this. thanks brett

How did they get the pinion pointing way down in the first place? Are you sure it's not just typical stock suspension problems?
What is in it for suspension components now?
Tim.

it has a set of air shocks in it now. all the control arms are original from what i can see and it has a aftermarket sway bar but thats all i can think of that i know has been done to it

Brett,
Just for laughs why don't you let all the air out of the air shocks and check the pinion angle again. Then with all the air out of the air shocks, do a burnout and then report back. If the tires will rub without any air in the air shocks you might think about trying a different tire and rim combination.

its still pretty bad the only reason i know is thats what i thought was causing it at first i had a leak in the line and my shocks would bleed down. im running a set of older 14 inch aluminum slots.

Can you measure the length of the stock upper control arms from bolt to bolt?
'64 to '67 uppers are shorter than the '68-'72's and this could cause your pinion to point down more than usual if the previos owner changed them out.

yea ill do that tomorrow thanks for the help guys im just hoping the guy that raced the car didnt cut the bracket that the lower control arm bolts to and roll the axle forward and reweld it.
