I'll probably get laughed at for asking this...but oh well. I was just wondering how much of a difference rocker lengths affect performance/setups? I got a pair of 1.5 crane roller tip rockers from the auto parts store a few days ago and i'm thinking of throwing them on my Performer RPM heads. The only problem is that I don't know what size rocker arms my Performer RPM heads come with stock. These 1.5 roller tip ones should be an improvement over my stock stamped/non roller ones right?
Sorry for my ignorance.....just trying to learn.
Thanks in advance guys!

The length will be the same..aas far as performance gains go..the roller tip rockers dont offer much in the way of performance..except..the rocker ratio will be truer 1.5...where stock rockers cam be all over the place.

i have seen in some magizine reports that the roller tips can give you a few extra hp in terms of less then 5 hp........
i think the reason you see a gain in hp is from what was stated earlier the 1.5 ratio is more even across the boards........alot of the factory rockers give less then the 1.5 lift.
besides the roller tips should be stronger then the factory ones and most that im aware of give the longer slots for higher lift cams.
so you got alittle improvement not much.

Thanks for the replies guys. I didn't know there would be that much of a variance in the stock rockers. I was able to get the roller rockers for $100 instead of $180, so I just thought I might as well....figured it would make the engine a little smoother. :D

Pegleg I was about to post the same topic but I was going to add "how much differance do 1.5 rockers make compared to 1.6?" You got it pretty well cleared up though
