Welcome to Team Chevelle Charlie! :waving: Glad to hear you got the best year. ;)

Typically this restoration forum is for guys talking about original numbers type restorations. I don't know the answers to your questions but I think they have been discussed here before in the transmission forum as well as brakes and suspension forum. Maybe do a quick search on those forums and if nothing comes up re-post your question there. Hope that helps!

Look for a 9" out of Lincoln, they have factory disc brakes.

Junk yard parts are junk yard parts. I'd get something good rather than spend money trying to build something old. Plus, you are going to have to weld all the brackets onto it and do a lot of fabrication work.

Have you checked out the Moser 12 bolt setups? They are reasonable and for a street car would be great. I am putting in a Quick Performance 9" tonight and tomorrow, and I plan to photograph the installation and then post it on the forum, probably in the performance section some time next week. If you plan to really thrash your car at the track or something, then I'd consider the 9", but a number of guys on this forum run low 10s with a 12 bolt.

Sorry I didn't answer your question, but hopefully I provided some useful information.
