Finally made it back to the track tonight after making some changes to my car. Changes include switching to 4.56 gears from 4.10's, carb reworked, tranny/converter freshened.

My best from my previous outing was 10.42@127.82

Here's the runs from tonight:

Jetting-82/90 timing-38dg 1" open spacer.

60-1.434
660-6.593@104.18
1000-8.652
1320-10.408@127.68

Next run- added another 1" spacer for total of 2"
no other changes
60-1.431
660-6.604@104.25
1000-8.658
1320-10.407@127.91

Next run-bumped jets to 84/92, increased fuel psi from 7.75 to 8.5psi.
60-1.434
660-6.579@104.61
1000-8.626
1320-10.369@128.74

Last run- bumped jets again to 86/94, all else the same.
60-1.427
660-6.535@105.09
1000-8.577
1320-10.318@128.91

I've got a few other things to try before I pull this motor out and start playing with the new sbc. I believe a 10.2x shouldn't be too hard with some more suspension tweaking and maybe crack 130mph with some more engine tuning. I've also got a vacumn pump set-up I'll be installing.

Weather tonight was identical to my last outing. Temp at 10pm on the last run was 53dg, 30.3 barometer, 41dg dew pt which works out to ~ -700DA.

Real nice track trip for a change. :D

John,

AWESOME! graemlins/thumbsup.gif

Good to see all of the latest changes coming together to pay off in the ET/MPH department for you.

The current combo has really come around. I knew it was hiding in there somewhere. ;)

It's scary to think what the car is going to do with another 100+ HP that the new SBC should provide

Maybe I've missed it (haven't been around much lately), but what is the new SBC you are building? Care to share the details?

And to think that I was once considered one of the fast SBC guys on here at an 11.39

Jason- Thanks! Did you get my fax?

Robert- Thanks! Its hell being clueless. ;)

66-Thanks!

Greg- Long time no speak. How's your car coming?
I haven't posted much about the new motor. Here's the parts list.

Dart Little-M 4.125" bore
Lunati Pro series crank 4" stroke
Lunati Pro billet 6" rods
Ross flat-top piston (14:1 comp)
Total seal rings
Isky Red Zone lifters
Jesel belt drive
Cam Motion roller .748/.732 278/287@.050 110lsa
Brodix 18c heads 2.18/1.625 CNC'd by Rons Porting Service
GM bowtie intake (4150 flange) ported by Rons
Crower stainless shaft rockers 1.7x1.7 ratio

Thats the short version. Everything is at the machine shop except the rockers/lifters. Still waiting on those. As soon as they show up it will be approx 1 month before its dyno ready.

John,

I did get the fax. Sorry, I should have dropped you a note.

Did the PS carb modifications seem to work out? How was the car hooking up? What RPM are you crossing the traps at now?

The 60's were fairly consistent considering all the street cars and imports last night. According to Dave and my seat-o-pants the tires were turning a rev or so. I think if I were to race on a real race day it would go 1.40 or so.

Trap rpms were ~7200

Gonna bring one of your heads next weekend?

John,

That's good news about the carb. Sounds like the gears worked out well also.

I am planning to bring a head with me next weekend. I hope to get the other one done finished up tomorrow.

Are you going to bring a head as well?

BTW, didn't you have any bigger jets ;)

Jason- I might bring one, not sure. Hell, I wish the 427 was done, I'd just bring it with me to get dyno'd. Free dyno! Now, that would cover tuition!!!! tongue.gif

Roger, Thanks! I could have bumped the jets again but I'd have been driving in the dark with no timers.

Great work John!! Looks like it's really coming around.

Also shows that I HAVE to get to track soon. Weather like this is all I'm going to need to get that last .05 to place me in the 9's!!
