Hi

i have a 72 chevelle malibu that i just bought...and i am looking to replace the 4 wheel manual drums with 4 wheel power disks. i have been reading the conversions, but i have some questions...
i have an 02 ls1 front brake setup at home, but i can find a 'how-to' on the install for it, is it a good idea to use these or should i just go the stock route?
rear disks...the stock route as mentioned in the sticky seems like the best way to go...is it worth it?

if i use the ls1 fronts and the stock rears, can i just buy the master, booster, and all assoc. parts that were mentioned in the stickey and everything works ok?

where can i get brackets and a how to on installing ls1 front disks?

Thanks so much, any help is great!

I hear alot of people talking about converting 4wheel drum to 4 wheel disks. Is the primary reason for this appearance? I guess they do look better through a big wheel with open spoke spacing. I converted to power front discs/rear drum on mine. I have to tell you I don't know how much better it can get with rear discs. Cause i can lock up all four with no problem. Turns out that my tires are the weakest link. Maybe you pro-touring guys running on a track can benefit from four wheel disc but on the street I have no problems puting any of my passengers through the windshield with minimal brake force

I agree wtih Rags, I have a chevelle with front disc/rear drum, and thats really all you need. 'Usually' :D you won't be make serious enough stops or sharp hard turns to need 4 wheel discs, unless you're building a track car. Many cars today still use disc/drum setup. And I always see streetrods with 4 wheel discs, and they hardly ever get driven.
