Just picked up the 454 from the machine shop. He went ahead and installed crank and rods/pistons for us. I was kind of bummed because I wanted to do it but he didn't charge for it, he just wanted to make sure clearances were good. I hope to get the heads on today and put the lifters in the bores as well as oil pump stuff. I will then be able to measure the pushrods and that's when things will be on hold for a while. Hopefully I can get pics tonight! Here we go...

What pistons? What heads? Stock stroke? Cast Crank? Don't forget to bag it when your not working on it.

Those are SRP pistons, Brodix Race Rite heads...stock stroke, cast crank..Lunati solid cam 402A3.

I'm only slightly ahead of you building a very similar engine so I share your excitement. Mine has the same pistons and Brodix racerites with CNC chamber, but I have a tick more compression from a zero deck and milling of the heads, wound up at 10.7:1. Cam is a Lunati hyd roller 232/242 @.050 and .578/.595 lift. Intake is Edelbrock MPFI #3550.

I'm going to dyno this engine and will post the results in a week or two if your interested.

What do you think of your Brodix heads? I think the quality is pretty darn good and nice finishing.

Is that a tire iron in your lifter valley?
