Is anyone using this cam in a BBC (454,468)with power brakes?
If so how much vacume do you have, and how do the brakes work?
Thanks T.C.

I would think you would be fine with the power brakes using that cam and your 454 but I am speaking from general, not specific, experience.

Not good with power brakes, I used one several years ago..

I have one in my 66 and sometimes there isn't enough power assist on the second brake application at slow speeds. Not super bad though. Mine isn't a daily driver. Weekend warrior only.

Thanks for the replys guys, mine is also a weekend warrior, but if it dont stop thats no good,it feels like I have no power assist.
I only have about 7 on a vacume guage, but Im thinking this may go up as the motor breakes in or more tunning.
I only have about 1 hr on the motor with no street time.
I have added a vacume can and the brake peddal still seems hard with vacume at the can at 25?
It's a new Master Power Brakes BBC dual diafram booster and master, so hopefully thats not the problem?
New stainless lines, rebuilt cylinders at all four corners.
Any advice/comment will be greatly appreciated.

I ran that cam and had about 5-7 inches of vacuum. The brakes were alright when you first hit them but watch out if you let off and then hit em again. It was a real hard pedal on the second pump.

I would also like to know.....I'm considering using this cam on a 402 bbc and yes I have power brakes and I also will be running a TH350 with the standard valve body so ofcourse I'll need vaccum for my vacuum modulator.

Plain69, what did you do to fix the problem?
I would be interested to hear form someone who has used a vacume canaster on a car with low vacume.
Someone who could tell how/if they accually work?
Good/bad?
Anybody?
Thanks T.C.

With that low of a vacuum reading you guys really need Hydratech hydroboost (http://www.hydroboost.com/) braking systems. I am presently installing one on my 68 Camaro. It's not cheap, but if you go fast, it's good to stop fast. :D

I'm running the XE284 in my 406 SBC. 9.5hg at idle(900rpm). Brakes definately go away in stop and go traffic. Not super bad but a vac can is a must at the very least.
