I have what I believe is a 1967 engine for a 1968. from what I have been told production dates are always the year before (ie. 1967 engine would have a build date A126).. does this sound right?... anyways its a "EG" 396 (T1II7EG) complete engine...casting number 3918323??.. it is in great shape.. someone has replaced the intake and heads to oval port. it has a cast holley intake off a corvette #3868948... and cast oval port heads #3917215... the engine also came with a holley 750 double pumper list #4779... a spare set of heads #3872702 .... and a 12 bolt rear end... # CI 1158... which decodes to a 373 posi.... also included in the package was a saginaw cast tranny with a v-gate shifter, scatter shield , and a complete mcCloud clutch.... all pulleys, brackets, etc for the front ofthe engine.... it even has a factory power steering pump with external reservoir.... what do you guys think all this stuff is worth?... in pieces or a package?.... thanks!...

The block (actually 3916323) was used in 1 year -1968 as your date code indicates (Nov 11)
It would be a complete "EG" engine if it had the correct dated/PN heads on it.
So with the mismatched parts you basically have a 396/375 shortblock with 1967/68 oval port closed chamber heads.

Shortblock is worth $750-1500 depending on bore, steel crank vs cast crank, right rods, timing cover etc......the heads are worth 200-250 needing to be redone.....intake is worth 75-100,.....power steering is worth 100-250 depending on correct brackets and resevoir, etc.........rear end if its still a 3.73 posi is worth $700-1200 depending on condition. Values could vary greatly this is just a rough idea..............

This block was also used in late, late 1967.
My '67 was built in the 3rd week in July 1967 (Fremont) and used the "323" block and "215" heads. It is a matching number block, assembled June 30 with proper cast codes.
What is unique about the heads is that they have the coolant sensor boss but is not drilled and tapped. In '67 the sensor was in the intake manifold, in '68 they moved the sensor to the heads.

Hey, thanks for the info guys.... Ive had bad luck with posts here...=(... I would like to use the engine for my 67 however my build date is the first week of december (freemont,ca) so I dont believe that it will work..... and it needs heads...=(.... anyone have any??.... the intake is useless to me because a correct 375 hp is aluminum.... it does have all the ps brackets and correct chevelle oil pan.... the block is all original parts... standard bore etc.... Id really like a correct code/build date 350 hp or 375 hp engine for my car..... i'd hate to use this one when someone else can complete their car "correctly" with it.... anyone know somebody that has what I need?..... also, anyone have any deep groove pulleys?.... I have three sets of closed chamber oval port heads date codes 66-67..... lemmie know if anyone needs them... I have a set of 14X6 JK's two are 4" backspace and the others are 4 1/2" >>>> any ides whatthey came off of?.... they read 14X6 JK NI and 14X6 JK NT.....thanks guys! ....PS... anyone know what happened to the "mystery 66" guy?... I would like to purchase his "must have" 66-67 fact book.... my attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful.... anyone know of any good books to help me put my ss back to its original condition?... ie. date codes part numbers 375 hp facts etc?...
