This a good deal for a 496 build up? I don't see why it wouldn't be although price is staying low. Maybe because its a 2-bolt main. Hard to find 454's around here, we really only have one 'salvage yard' and the guy never comes across any.

Just from looking, it looks like a P/U and car block, not a tall deck truck block which makes it a better deal to me..

That's what I was thinking, so I'm awaiting the seller to send me some casting numbers to be certain.

If it's a '79 454, then it's not a tall deck. They didn't make a tall block 454 in 1979.

waste of time, its already .060" over, and you dont know who did the machine work.
if you can find a block that hasnt been done up yet, you're better off, then bring it to a shop that does alot of well performing race motors, and have them do the work.
Thats just my opinion on it.
