I went to the IHRA Spring Nationals with my son and a buddy of mine. We had a great time, it has been almost 25 yrs since I watched Top Fuel cars.

Those machines are awesome, the raw power and the way it shakes you is unbelievable. My son and I jumped 10 feet in the air when the first pair blasted down the track at 300+mph.

Then to my surprise I hear a name from the past, Chris Karamesines "The Golden Greek" I remember him when I was a kid in the 60's watching drag racing on The Wide World of Sports.

This guy will be 80 this year and still racing a Nitro Methane Top Fuel Dragster!!!
What a surprise to see a legend still racing!!! He should be a inspiration to all of us!!

For those of you too young to know who he is, here is a link to a article about him http://www.dragracingonline.com/special/karamesines_1.html

Been going to Englishtown every year since high school('77) to see the Nationals. I enjoy bringing new people with me and seeing their reactions when they see/hear the fuel cars for the first time. Priceless!!
