I just had my a** kicked today trying to ge my manual steering box out. I have the coupler disconnected, broke the pittman arm free and have all the bolts removed (or cut off) but it doesn't want to come out. What's the trick? I know there is no more hardware holding it together.

There's really only 3 means of connestion, the pitman arm, coupler, and mounting bolts. What to you mean by "bolts removed (or cut off)" If you cut thw head off the bolts they could possibly be bent.

Another possibility is the box could be literally rusted to the frame. Mine was like this, I hit it with a mallet a few times to break it loose. It was stuck pretty good. Good Luck

The bolts are all free, as in they are free of the frame. The box is free to move and I can move it about 1/2 inch from the frame. It's just a combination of still being partially connected to the steering coupler and the pittman arm. Maybe I just have to put a little more a** into it to get it out. I'll wrestle with it some more today. Should the coupler be able to slide farther down towards the box so it can be completely free of the steering shaft?
