84 454. Ovals, and it ran great with no smoke when it was in the truck. No smoke on startup, or while running. I am installing my 60203 cam/lifters/springs in it sunday, and am wondering if I should have bought seals. My mentor says I should have bought them, but it never even occoured to me.

Install new valve springs over old seals?

OR

Postpone Spring change until I get new seals in from summit

Suggestions?

wow. No one in town had them in stock except Advance Auto. Suprised me. They were the last place I called. They will have them @9am tommorow.

This is going to truly be a Mr 4 Speed Combo. :D

Hopefully I can get a calpack in the next week from my local GM parts guy, and get this 727 ecm, and ram jet manifold to cooperate.

Anyone got a detriot for a 12 bolt for sale for cheap!?!?!? :D:D

WELLL Sorta. these heads have exhaust valve rotators, so... work stoppage. Actually I got quite a bit done. I went ahead, and put new stem seals, and springs/retainers on the intake valves. I thought that was going to be a HUGE PITA, but I actually enjoyed it. bizzaro huh. Hope I never have to do that in a car though. 454 is completely cleaned, and Painted. Got a new oil pump in, and welded a car pickup tube to it. Oil pan is painted, and ready to install. All brackets are black, and the motor is orange of course. :D 60203 is installed, and has lifters sitting on it.

I figured on re-using the cam gear set. :( ENNNGH wrong. Orig plastic gear = slop city. got a new one showing up at the parts store in the morning, and I am going to slap it on, and put my timing cover back on, and then the new oil pan.

I'm ordering some comp spring spacers to delete the exhaust vavle spring rotators. Got a few nicknacks comming from summit. Fuel pump blockoff, thermostat, oil filter adapter(had a huge cooler thing on there that was NOT going to clear my headers)

The close I get to installing the motor, the more leery I get about the motor mounts. My car is an Orig 350 car, and I know I should just be able to bolt the 350 engine brackets to the 454, and it will bolt right in. Am I correct?

any advice?
