So I just got a 67 chevelle v8 in ok shape but needs some work no gas is getting to the carb bad fuel pump . I looked and its got an electric fuel pump right after the fuel tank but the thing that got me is that there is a rubber fuel line all the way from the tank to the carb I asked someone i knew they told me "you have to have a metal fuel line" but could not tell me why so I asked another friend they told me "you have a little external fuel pump thats pushing under 20 psi your fine, just replace the pump and enjoy your car." .....who is right can I leave the rubber is it safe? How about steel braided line? or should I take the time and bend new fuel line?

Put in a steel line. That rubber fuel line is a disaster waiting to happen.

The rubber line will be under suction at that point so it will work fine as long as it doesn't collapse. If you leave it, make sure it is fuel rated with a braid or just replace it with steel.
